Hi everybody, I have a redundant PLC 1500HF which is supposed to control also some ABB ACS880 inverters, via Profinet. According to the ABB document attached this is doable. Can somebody confirm that this works? Thanks in advance AttachmentPROFINET_S2_system_redundancy_for_ABB_drives_3AXD50000854837_RevA.pdf (480 Downloads) |

Hello kA Jack; The S7-1500R/H system is designed to manage redundant cnnections with S2-enabled IO devices, over Profinet rings. The screeshot below shows a typical configuration. The main document for S7-1500R/H systems presents these quotes you might fins helpful: - SIMATIC S7-1500 S7-1500R/H redundant system https://support.industry.siemens.com/cs/ww/en/view/109754833 3.3.2 Redundancy Introduction The S7-1500R/H redundant system is based on media redundancy (MRP) in the PROFINET ring. You can use the following IO devices on the redundant S7-1500R/H system: • IO devices with S2 system redundancy • Standard IO devices over the "Switched S1 device" function of the CPU System redundancy S2 IO devices with S2 system redundancy enable uninterrupted process data exchange with the S7-1500R/H redundant system in the event of a CPU failure. An IO device with system redundancy S2 supports system redundancy ARs. In a redundant system, an IO device with system redundancy S2 has a system redundancy AR with each of the two CPUs (IO controllers). An IO device thus supports ARs of two IO controllers simultaneously (for the same modules). I have not personnaly connected your ABB drives to a S7-1500H redundant pair of CPUs, but based on both ABB and Siemens documentation I do not believe you will face major hurdles for redundancy. Hope this helps, Daniel Chartier |
