Redundent Wincc with Redundent OPC XML DA

Gosai Posts: 61 Rating: (0)	Hello everybody, I have 1 set of redundent wincc servers 7.0 I would like to transfer SCADA info to MES ( non siemens) via OPC XML DA. where should i install this OPC XML DA ( wincc / connectivity pack is the perfect software?) in a way to achive OPC XML redundency with MES. Phantom75 Posts: 2661 Rating: (279)	Hi Naishad, You should configure a WinCC client as a OPC XML DA server. If you want redundancy, you can configure a second WinCC client also as OPC server. The actual redundancy management should be implemented in the OPC client (MES system). See chapters 5 & 6 in the attached manual and see also the following link: Which OPC specification is contained in which version of WinCC? Gosai Posts: 61 Rating: (0)	Hi Phantom75, one more clarification for the same; I have pair of redundent server and one client. Can I install OPC XML Server on wincc server itself, instead of wincc client to achive both Wincc and OPC XML redundancy ( to avoid use of one more client).

I am not sure about this... It depends on how you build the redundancy in the OPC client. As long as the host names of the OPC XML servers are specified properly in your application it should be fine I guess, but you have to try this. Regards
