Hello Automation Program; I feel like a student facing a lengthy homework assignment... Just to kick in the discussion, I suggest you look at this presentation of Siemens Teleservice (which I have used over a variety of physical connections in various projects, from PSTN and dedicated landlines to GPRS and Internet) and Telecontrol, which I have not yet used. http://www.siemens.ca/web/portal/en/IA_DT/rem-com/Pages/Default.aspx Hope this helps, Daniel Chartier |

Hello,
When possible i use VPN. If customer can provide VPN you dont need nothing else..... from office with your engineering PC you can work as if you were on the plant...... Best Regards |

Hello,
1-How to do the connection and what is the setting"PG/PC" in TIA or Simatic Manager software in this case? The procedures are difficult to do in client site end user. 3-Kindly have a look at: How do you run a remote session together with Siemens Industry Technical Support? What are the advantages and disadvantages of using this method and what is your opinion about it? 4-Are the other ways like: TeamViewer,Secomea,eWON..........approved from Siemens? |

Hello,
Yes with s7-300 and Tia V12 SP1 UPD 5 is OK. Also with 1200 (eg 1214C) and Tia V13 SP1 UPD8 no problem. At the moment no experience with 1500, next month i will try my first 1500 over vpn...... do you think we can have problem????
if TIA is configured to go online when the PG is on site (normally via ethernet interface) and also internet connection is made via the same interface no setting change are needed, only connect VPN and go online.
Unfortunately this is true for most of customer.
This is the first time i see FastViewer, it seems nothing more than a desktop sharing software (like TeamViewer) used by siemens technical support. With desktpo sharing (e.g. TeamViewer) no problem for Siemens approval because you only need a pc with siemens software installed (and licensed) at customer side, internet is used only to access this computer. Disadvantage is you have to sell a complete engineering pc to customer, this pc is connected to internet and this can give security issues. With product like socomea and ewon i dont have a lot of experience.... i hope some other expert will give more info (mainly about Siemens approval).. Best Regards

teamviewer is a : "Remote support, remote access, and online meeting software" (from teamviewer site). from "my office" i can access engineering pc located in "customer side"......
i'm not expert in this but what I understand is : from the link you provide it is possible to download a client to "give your computer" to Siemens technical support. obviously from fastviewer site you can buy a license to use with your customers. am i wrong?????? |
