Gunners Posts: 130 Rating: (18)	Hi, Can anyone send me the link for catalogues for REMOTE I/O modules? And what are the Limitations to be considered while selecting remote I/O's like cable distance from CPU etc... What is the maximum distance of the remote I/O from the CPU? regards,

As per the distance requirement you have to change the transmission medium. That means if distance in within 100m then Profibus or ethernet communication is sufficient. If your Remote IO's are placed at few kilometers then Profibus or ethernet cables are not sufficient. Here first you have to covert ethernet or profibus signal into optical signal & then transmit over the long distance. Also see at what speed you want to comunicate with Remote IO's. Because as distance increased the speed of communication gets decreased. By using Siemens Scalance ("X208-2 LD FO" module) you can go maximum 26km distance for remote IO's.
