Replace Allen Bradley Modules with Siemens

Qurashi Posts: 6 Rating: (1)	Dear Sir, I wana ask u that I have to replace these folllowing Allen Bradley Modules with Siemens Redundancy Module 1756-RM Control Net Bridge Module 1756-CN2R EtherNet IP Bridge Module 1756-EN2T Redundant Control Net Comm Module 1756-CN2R And is it necessary to use separate modules for Analog HART and standard Analog I/Os. Plz help me to find the Siemens Alternative....Thanks M Waseem

Wassem; As you probably know, the modules you quote are dedicated to Rockwell configurations and networks, and have no direct equivalent in Siemens' world. For example, ControlNet is a cell-level bus that is exclusive to Rockwell; a same-level Siemens-supported bus could be Profibus-DP, but that would mean considerable changes to your configuration. Note that you have quoted the same ControlNet part number twice in your question... Same thing with Ethernet/IP, it is a version of Ethernet linked to Rockwell CPUs. Siemens offers Industrial Ethernet CPs and also Profinet devices that could be used to the same effect; but the Ethernet protocol is very different and incompatible, so you must study all present elements on the network before you make a move. The Controllogix Redundancy Module only works with Controllogix CPUs. You would have to look either at Siemens Software redundancy (for S7-300 PLCs) or to a S7-400H CPU pair, depending on the speed of recovery you need in your fault-tolerant system, to operate in the same fashion as you do now. The only way any such transformation could be done is to look at the complete configuration of your present project, understand what elements you wish to keep, and then see what could be modified. You will have to migrate the whole system. if you don't mind upload us a picture or documentation of the completeAB system configuration. I am sure that somebody here will beable to assist you. maviizi Posts: 3 Rating: (1)	It is possible but hard to replace. You need to use some devices to convert the communication systems each other as HMS,Wago etc. products. Then you should send/receive messages according to these devices' structure. Also it is related to which CPU typeyou are using as Allen Bradley. Why do you want to replace only these modules ?

Prats Posts: 272 Rating: (4)	Replace the whole system, Also if you are not very sure about the process , do consider a streached budget for the uncertainities. A 400 H seems to be a good proposal from wat i feel after looking at the Modules requested.

Plz help me to find the Siemens Alternative....Thanks M Waseem Hi Querashi, First of all I would like to know the complete configuration of your hardware, if you could just attach the ACD file here on this forum, then I may be able to take a look at the configfuration. As I understand, you have Redundant CLX processors racks. Do you have just the CPU rack redundant or all the IO are redundant? Are you using 1756 I/O modules for all the analogs, hart modules, or you are using 1794 flex I/O. The modules which you have mentioned does not contain the whole configuration of your system, since you have CN2R modules, I understand you must also have I/O on controlnet, may be 1794 or 1756. Please do mention the reason for change. Or if you just want to replicate your configuration for a Siemens prefferred customer. I think if you provide the above information, you may get more help from hjere. About couple of years ago I was running in the same boat, however, I have successfully designed / converted / commissioned / implemented Rockwell equivalent design in few systems now, and still learning and implementing.
