Replacing CM module 6ES7241-1CH30-0XB0 with CM module 6ES7241-1CH32-0XB0

renedormans Posts: 2 Rating: (0)	We got a new unit, hardware identical to excisting unit except siemens hardware, all follow-up products of the excisting modules. The CM module (6ES7241-1CH30-0XB0, RS485 module) in can't update in PLC project because new module not availeble in support package update. We are now using CM module (6ES7241-1CH32-0XB0, RS422/RS485). During testing we noticed, that status off the pump (string)is fluctuating, meaning not in a valid range. communication Pump -> PLC via RS232/RS485 converter to CM module. The test we already have done are, using the excisting CM module (6ES7241-1CH30-0XB0) from the other unit, then we don't have that fluctuation, ruling out RS232/RS485 wiring problem. Other test, is replacing (6ES7241-1CH30-0XB0) with (6ES7241-1CH31-0XB0, previous RS422/RS485 module) with settings for RS485 and identical to the excisting module in PLC project. Again the string containing status pump fluctuaties, thus becoming invalid. At the moment only differences i can see is a mismatch hardware in PLC project and actualy used hardware. Any Suggestions to solve this problem, please it getting to close to delivery date Kind regards René

The replacement module was supposed to be a drop-in replacement. If you update your project with the replacement CM module with the new part # and rebuild and load that revised project, does the problem go away? I would expect it will.

renedormans Posts: 2 Rating: (0)	Hi huggy_d1, If you mean replacing the old CM module 6ES7241-1CH30-0XB0 in PLC project (replacing in device view), i can't do that because the new CM module 6ES7241-1CH32-0XB0 is not avaleble in latest support package update. Therefore not availeble in catalog. I can only download PLC project either with the old CM module. As a test we placed the old CM module 6ES7241-1CH30-0XB0 of the excisting unit into the new unit. Then we don't have that fluctuation. Or. After that i changed the PLC project using the previous version of the RS422/RS485 module, 6ES7241-1CH31-0XB0, checked the settings to use RS485 and other settings so it would match with the old module 6ES7241-1CH30-0XB0, also being aware that the hardware identifier changes, old 11 to new 259, connection link to send/recieve DB's. Compiled en downloaded PLC project, and used the new module 6ES7241-1CH32-0XB0. Again the status pump (string) starts the fluctuate, in the software where we check if string is valid, see attachment. It's constantly switching from valid to invalid like flip flop. Thanks for replying so far. I hope to get an answer via support request which i also did make same time i posted in the forum, i maded thread also on forum because i was hoping maybe some has had a similiar problem before me and could provide a solution. Kind regards René While waiting for an answer, you may want to consider updating to V11 SP2 Update 5 (latest update for V11). If you are using V12 in compatibility mode on a V11 project, V12 SP1 Update 3 is latest. Please post what you receive from your SR. Hopefully they fix the HSPs and provide it for everyone. Like you, I have been held back by these supposedly backwards-compatible updates that report you can just swap them out and everything works. I had to add a HSP to include hardware purchased differently than what was ordered. I ordered the older part # and upon receipt, I kept getting device errors until I recognized the part # difference and had to update with HSP.
