Is it possible to restart a S7-1200  modem CP1242-7 by software written in the CPU ?

Well it depends on what you want to accomplish.

If you need to do some reconfiguration you could use TC_CONFIG.

It's also not possible to cut the power because your PLC will go in STOP and is only able to go back in RUN by a power cycle. (yes i have tested it)

Is it because you are using the SET 30 configuration ? (CP1242-7 - TCSB - and wincc runtime advanced) We also would like to restart the CP because there seems to stay some data in the buffer after a connection interruption  what delays the time of sending back the data to the TCSB from the CP.

No it is not the SET 30 but SET 32.

I only use SMS sending and receiving and sometimes the modem does not react on national or international incoming SMS.

When the power is going off and on (not a good solution) then the modem is well working for a few weeks, and then the problem is coming back randomly.

What is your status on TC_CON, SEND and RECV on the moment you can't receive anymore?

Did you check the status in the helpfile of the functions or in the manual ?

If you can't find the problem you could try to resend the SMS settings to the CP with TC_CONF. probably it does some kind of reset. but it depends on the status if it resolves your problem.
