Retentive timer concept

VISHALMISTRY Posts: 1 Rating: (0)	when we use retentive timer in simatic manager when we we give enable signal timer counting starts and if we remove enable bit before output goes high counting remains continue and after reaching to its time value out put goes high. if we again enable timer signal counting starts from the beginning. But if we see the retentive timer concept in S7-200 if the enable signal been removed before the preset time value then accumulator value stops and when we give enable signal again it will start counting from the value from where the counting is stopped and out will goes high when its counting is completed. Why there are two different concept or two different operation for the same type of timer ?

Please read carefully online help for instructions, sometimes it can be little bit different in different editors for the same CPU type, for example RS flip-flop and its inputs priority in FBD in comparation with CFC. I download one retentive timer program from web. its working... But i dont know the concept inside the program. Is anybody,s knows concept pls help me. I have attached the program below.. Some time ago, I wrote a article, that was converted in a FAQ (http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/26116927), this has a example of "retentive" timer for S7-300/400.
