Ratan Experienced Member Joined: 12/7/2010 Last visit: 9/10/2023 Posts: 89 Rating: (0)	Dear Friends I want to use retentive counter and timer with CPU S7-1214 in my progarm it can be possible with CTU & TON/TONR. i have used this timer and counter in FC, so there is any need it show used in Main Program Because i have used TONR Timer and it get reset automatically when that particular FC is callled.

William_B Posts: 5225 Rating: (1182)	Where did you create your timer DB? Make sure you are not using the IEC_TIMER defined in the DB more than once. Maybe send us a screen capture of the network where you use the timer.

If you have 10.5 I suggest you place the logic in a FB and set the properties "retain" for the timer (as multiiinstace).

Marko Bursic Platinum Member Joined: 9/8/2009 Last visit: 7/17/2023 Posts: 1410 Rating: (149)	You can use timer contact/output wherever you want main, fc, fb..but you can define timer coil/block just in one place in entire program. if you define it in fc then for proper work this fc has to be called every scan cycle, else is not processed. TONR is retentive timer, that needs to be reset one time if you wish to restart timing again. look where you put the reset bit of it in program and try to find out why it resets.
