Retrieving archived data

Pouch Posts: 1 Rating: (0)	How do I retrieve archived data in order to further process it. I want to get a production figure based on the amount of material through a rotary valve in a week, based on the archived frequency setting.

Danielle Posts: 1275 Rating: (123)	I don't have a full script, but here are some functions to help: To store information in .txt, in VB Dim Preset1 Preset1 = ReadValue("Tagname") Set fs = CreateObject("Scripting.FileSystemObject") Set A = fs.CreateTextFile("c:\preset.txt", True) A.WriteLine (Preset1) A.Close That one creates a file c:\preset.txt, and inserts a line with the tag. To read the data from a .txt, also in VB Dim Preset1 Open "c:\preset.txt" For Input As #1 Line Input #1, Preset1 Close #1 This one opens the file c:\preset.txt, reads a line from it and stores the value from that line in the tag "Preset1". What I'd do is create files with names in the format yyMMdd.txt. Also... to work with excel: ' Declare an object variable to hold the object ' reference. Dim as Object causes late binding. Dim ExcelSheet As Object Set ExcelSheet = CreateObject("Excel.Sheet") ' Make Excel visible through the Application object. ExcelSheet.Application.Visible = True ' Place some text in the first cell of the sheet. ExcelSheet.Application.Cells(1, 1).Value = MyRecord ' Save the sheet to C:\test.xls directory. ExcelSheet.SaveAs "C:\TEST.XLS" ' Close Excel with the Quit method on the Application object. ExcelSheet.Application.Quit ' Release the object variable. Set ExcelSheet = Nothing
