So please guide me which OLM and how many OLM I have to consider to create ring network. Please find the attached system configuration for referance. Please suggest. Regrads, Yogendra G. Hope this helps, Daniel Chartier Edit: Here is a link to the latest version of the manual proposed by J_Bell, the link in the thread above is no longer valid. Chapter 3.3 still discusses Profibus-DP ring topologies: SIMATIC NET PROFIBUS Optical Link Module D.C.

dchartier Grandmaster-Expert Joined: 9/27/2006 Last visit: 3/14/2025 Posts: 12344 Rating: (2707)	Hello Yogendra; Acouple of things i noiticedin that sketch: - you cannot have a ring based on copper wire, only on the OLM fiber optic cables; sothe only way the drawing would be workable would be to cut the Profibus lines between the IM 153-2 HF stations at the bottom ofyour sketch, and ensure terminations are on at that point. - you must have seperate rings for each of the DP-masters in the S7-400H. I have taken the liberty of modifying your sketch, sorry if the quality is primitive, i hope it can convey the basic ideas I am trying to illustrate. Notice that if the topology (distance, location...)is possible you can connect (as stated earlier) more than one IM 153-2 to the copper connection of the OLM, therefore reducing the number of OLMs required for this topology.
