routing PG to profibus from ethernet

Sinamics G120 with profibus connected to PLC s7 315 PN/DP, PLC connected to lan network, VPN connection, PG in other city connected to company network with VPN. My question is if it is possble to go on-line with sinamics when i am using vpn connection (ethernet to profibus routing)? What settings should I make? Do i have to upload NCM config to plc? best regards

Rated X Posts: 1547 Rating: (129)	Hello, it should be possible. With VPN you will get an IP address from your local Network. So first start testing from your local Network. Add into your project a PG/PC Object to set the right routing information for S7 PLC. Save and compile Net Pro and Download it to download the routing information located in SDB999 into PLC. Go online with local connected PC. If this is working, try to test it remote. Please observe if the VPN Endpoint is not in same subnet you have to configure the Gateway address in PLC.

You must set: - insert in NET PRO PG/PC station and assign addres and interface and set as ACTIVE - all stations must compatibile with routing PG (Test commisionig and routing functions) - all station routing communications must be reloaded with network configuration Small help: https://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/llisapi.dll?func=cslib.csinfo&lang=en&objid=2383206&caller=view Thats all. Every time I set PGPC interface to MPI or PB and try to upload HW the PGPC interface goes to ethernet automaticly. Is there any solution for that?

Rated X Posts: 1547 Rating: (129)	Hello, if you don't want use Routing you have to release the settings in PG/PC object. Open NetPro -> open Properties of PG/PC object and select last chapter Assignment and click on Disconnect to remove the Ethernet settings there. Then Step7 will use the settings from Set PG/PC Interface panel directly.

AutoGen_823003 Posts: 23 Rating: (0)	Dear All, Little update: I managed to route with CU240B-2DP firmware ver. >=4.7. All <4.7 are not accesible so far for me. According to the help: https://support.industry.siemens.com/cs/document/50037141/sinamics-g120-(cu2x0x-2)-sinamics-g120c%3A-requirements-enabling-a-routing-connection?dti=0&lc=en-WW Firmware version of these frequency converters must be ≥V4.3.2. Devices with FW V4.2 or V4.3 do not support routing functionality. SINAMICS G120/G120D with FW versions <V4 or with a firmware version >= V4.7 use S7 communication to connect to the STARTER PG/PC via PROFIBUS DP or PROFINET. All S7 CPU/CP with PROFIBUS/PROFINET interface produced within the last years provide S7 routing functionality. Do I need to upgrade all fw to 4.7?
