Hello Anton S I'm afraid to say that Profinet I/O data is NOT routeable and the I/O Controller and all associated I/O devices MUST be within the same subnet. The reason for this is that cyclic Profinet I/O data completely bypassess the TCP/IP layers (Layer 3 and 4 of the ISO/OSI model) to create an efficient and lean protocol without uneccessary overhead. Without these Layers in the protcol though, the I/O data communication is MAC address based and you loose the ability to route. It's a small price to pay though and I personally would not want tohave routers in a time criticalI/O network anyhow. I hope this helps and you'll find more info in the SIMATIC PROFINET System Description |
