Hi all, what is the connection of RS 232 cable (9 pins) that is suitable for most types of simatic panels for upload and download the program?

Hello Mohamed; Siemens does not use RS-232 to transfer programs and monitor PLCs on an operator panel. The closest you will have (and the exact type of connection depends on the panel you are using) would be a PC/PPI or PC/MPI cable. They both connect to a COMx port (over RS-232) but they convert the signal to a RS-485 protocol, PPI or MPI depending on the cable and the panel model. Today for such applications Siemens offers USB/PPI and USB/MPI cables. The newer models of panels all show a distinct preference for Ethernet connections, for download and monitoring. See the following FAQs for more information: Which connector cables are available for connecting to SIMATIC Panels? Which cable can you use for data transfer between a Micro Panel and a configuration PC? How can you transfer data via USB from a WinCC flexible configuration computer to a Windows-based operator panel and which USB cables can be used for this? Hope this helps, Daniel Chartier |
