ComAp has one RS-232 port and one RS-485 ports. Can I use one of this port to read parametars such as voltage, current, power...? What instructions do I have to use? Do I have to install GSD file ?

Hello, Normally RS485 is physical layer for both PROFIBUS and MODBUS.You shoud check the function of each port mentioned and the protocols each supports.Update each case for solutions. If your PLC having CP or inbuit RS485 then you can connect.

If dont have any PLC... check its compatibilty thru' MODSCAN software and findout voltage etc. But for that you must know it memory mapping..... No GSD etc is required in this case. With this use RS232 port of the device. To download modscan just google.

hdhosseini Diamond Member Joined: 1/28/2009 Last visit: 3/8/2025 Posts: 6860 Rating: (1366)	Ugljesa I have 315 2PN-DP with falowing code : 6ES7 315-2EH14-0AB0 There are some points to be clarified.your CPU doesn't support point to point communication as an integral part.You can try CP341 for variety of point to point protocols.For modbus RTU, if you want to use CP341 as master/slave you need a piece of additional dongle to be used.About the samples and order numbers you can search the "Forum" or online support website for more information.

Dear Ugljesa, Most of the energy meters, Generator protection relays and synchronisers supports MODBUS RTU by default on serial ports. You need to findout what is the configured protocol on your device. If MODBUS RTU then get the communication parameters and data mapping from device manufacturer. You can use CP 341 with loadable MODBUS drivers for establishing MODBUS communication. If PROFIBUS you dont need any additonal CP you can use your 315-2PNDP and GSD file.
