RS-485 Repeater

$baby Posts: 10 Rating: (0)	Hi guys, we are having RS-485 repeater for profibus signal boost up.I need to know how much nodes shall we connect after repeater.Hw to troubleshoot when repeater is having problem.We have connected cable to DP1 in repeater but green indication of DP1 is not glowing .Is it indicates problem in cable?.

Rated X Posts: 1547 Rating: (129)	Hi $baby, just have a look at the PROFIBUS manual: http://www.automation.siemens.com/mcms/industrial-communication/en/support/ik-info/Documents/profn2_e.pdf In chapter 3.1 you can find the maximum nodes (remember that the repeater is also a node!) accordingly to the cable length and bandwidth. As far as I know the DP1 LED is yellow - and as long as there is no (or only very low) traffic, it will blink very rarely. The green LED should be the power - if this one is off your repeater should not work. Regards, Rated X
