Running Multiple WinCC Projects with Webnavigator

KevinD Posts: 4 Rating: (1)	We are attempting to run two WinCC HMI applications simultaneously on the same computer and have access to both application's screens via Webnavigator / Internet Explorer. We have been able to run both applications using 2 separate user accounts logged into the pc. We have not been able to figure out how to get 2 Webnavigator websites running on the same pc. Any ideas on how to configure this system? [:o]

Dec Gold Expert Joined: 5/19/2006 Last visit: 8/5/2023 Posts: 547 Rating: (107)	I don't think any of the two scenarios that you are trying to accomplish are either recommended or supported by WinCC & WebNavigator. I am not sure how you are able to run two different projects in RT on the same PC either. Can you provide a print-screen with Task-Manager/Processes and the two RT WinCC Projects running? Maybe it is possible fractions of what you are describing with 2003 TS but the solution can have unpredicted results due to WinCC design (not designed to run in Terminal Sessions except WinCCWeb Clients). You may be using terminal services or have two users concurrently logged onto XP but this is not supported. Instead you should do the following. Have three computerswith WinCCinstalled. Two of them are configured as WinCC Servers and run the two different projects. The third one is configured as a Client With Project and accesses the data from the two servers. You then install WebNavigator on the client machine. This gives you access to both projects data from a webnavigator client. We also have Dat@Monitor / Webnavigator on our machine. How do we configure the WebNavigator portion to handle the 2 different applications. We have only been able to configure 1 web interface ata time. Where is the web configuration stored in this situation.

Is it a WinCC client as you cannot use DataMonitor/WebNavigator on a non-WinCC machine. If so is it a client to both servers ? Please can you clarify this point first. The web server configuration is held in IIS which you can see under Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Internet Services Manager. However remember that as only one WinCC project can be running you can only host one WebNavigator site on a PC. This brings us back to the question of your architecture. We have a new pc that can be a client to the existing WinCC applications and also can run the Dat@Monitor / WebNavigator software. We need to be able to have a readonly view of the 2 WinCC apps screens, thus the need for the Dat@Monitor / WebNavigator portion. Per your previous post "Thethird one is configured as a Client With Project and accesses the data from the two servers. You then install WebNavigator on the client machine. This gives you access to both projects data from a webnavigator client." it sounded as though we could use WebNavigator to view both projects screens on our new client machine. Any further assistance is greatly appreciated!

On this client you should load the server data packages from the two servers which will enable you to see both servers. A step-by-step guide to setting up a client project can be found in the WinCC manual under Start -> SIMATIC -> WinCC -> WinCC Information System -> Configurations -> Multi-user systems. Peter Posts: 83 Rating: (8)	Hi KevinD, I am in the same situation like yours, and like Salma had written in his last reply you could use Multi Client option. Since your existing WinCC has different application then you are saved from Redundancy thing [:D] From economics point of view the Multi client (in your case) is better solution. For example you would make your 2 existing WinCC as server so the 3rd PC as Multi client could access the application, then you need: - 2x WinCC Server option (ca.5xxxEU) - 1x WinCC RC 128k (ca. 3xxxEU) Total: 8xxxEU Disadvantage: If you would have more than 1 client then you have to calculate plus 3xxxEU per client. Web Navigator option would need: - 2x WebNavigator server for 3 Client (minimum) (ca.1xxxxEU) Advantage: you have 2 other client that can connect to each server. Also... just make sure you do not use internal tag for navigation or table or indirect tag or you are in deep trouble like me now [:cry:] Have fun, Peter

As you mentioned in your last reply; that means he only need 1 WebNavigator license (i.e. 3 clients license) for 2 server? As far as I understood (could be totaly wrong [:P]) that each server will act as Web server and will publish its own application and client will access through different IP, right? That means 2 different WebNavigator server, right? or am I wrong? mfg, Peter
