Runtime liscence compatibility

Stuart_Cyrus Posts: 2 Rating: (0)	Hi, I have an OP12 with a PCU50 which I have loaded with a runtime file created using WinCC flexible 2008. When I have come to authorise the panel ive realised that my liscence is for winCC flex runtime 2007. Will this liscence work?It is only the runtime I am using on the PC and not the configuration software. Thanks,

bunglehead Posts: 54 Rating: (3)	As I understand you mean that yout RT license on developement station doesn't match your ES version. You shouldn't care about that cause RT license is unnecessary for developement and transferring to panel.

Jesper Pedersen Posts: 279 Rating: (30)	I have heard from someone else, that from 2007 HF3 and onwards, the RT will run from a previous version RT license, i.e. 2007 HF3 RT will run with a 2005 RT license. So your project made with 2008 will run with a 2007 RT license. You must install the 2008 RT software, not the 2007 RT software though. The RT and CS software versions must match. Give it a try and let us hear about it. As I havent seen an official statement about this subject, I would like to know if there is a link to such a statement.

Ab dem Hotfix 3 ist eine "WinCC flexible 2007 Runtime" auch mit einem Lizenz Key der "WinCC flexible 2005 Runtime" ablauffähig. Hierfür muss das Hotfix 3 oder höher auf dem Runtimesystem installiert sein. Die Nutzung des Lizenz Keys aus der Vorgängerversion ist ausschließlich für Test- bzw. Inbetriebnahmezwecke gedacht.

In other words, a 2007 HF3+ RT can run with a previous license version, but you are not allowed to do so !!!!!
This is STILL one of the main unsolved problems with using WinCC Flex PC RT.
I know Siemens stance on the matter, but I dare to say that as an OEM that has to support previously delivered PC RT projects, the current 'policy' is almost unbearable.

Jesper Pedersen Posts: 279 Rating: (30)	And to answer Stuarts original question. You have a problem, because the CS and RT versions must match. In certain cases, there can be a difference in hotfix versions, a 2007 HF2 RT will work with a project made by CS 2007 HF3 for example. But major revisions must be the same, so a 2007 RT will not work withproject made by CS 2008. This is what you can do: If you have not opened the RT package, you can send it to Siemens to have it exchanged to 2008 for a fee. Or, you can purchase a 2007 to 2008 upgrade package. A more difficult approach is to use "Save as version 2007" in CS 2008. Then the saved project must be imported into CS 2007 and compiled there. I use VMware to have several versions of WinCC Flex on my PC for just this purpose.

I am having some trouble upgrading however since this message appears when I try to upgrade "No matching upgrade license keys were found" Anyone know why this might be? I am upgrading a 2007 runtime lisence with 2048 tags using a 2008 upgrade lisence. Thanks

Jesper Pedersen Posts: 279 Rating: (30)	Hi again. Firsttransfer the upgrade license to the C: drive of the target PC. Then select the old runtime license on the C: drive, and select Upgrade.
