S110 enable direct from HMI

Hi - I am new to SIEMENS drives. I have managed to get an S110 working as a stand-alone unit - drive enable (fan on), run, fault acknowledge - are all controlled via hardware toggle switches through the X132 diigital I/O connector. Speed reference is via an external variable DC supply through the analog input port. Set up of the connections was carried out using Starter.

I am now trying to do the same control of the drive, but from a HMI (WinCC application running on a PC using RunTime). There is an application note by Siemens that explains how to do this in general terms, which involves setting/reading drive parameters from the HMI. I can now interrogate the drive and display actual speed, actual torque etc. on the HMI screen and can also set the speed from the HMI using an Additional Speed References parameter. However, I would also like to control the fan on/off (enable), from the HMI but can't see how to do this - any suggestions?

Hi. there may be a better way, but this works well and I have used it several times.

Essentially, the HMI will toggle a bit inversion in the drive, I tend to use two buttons, one SetBitInTag, and one ResetBitInTag.

Create an HMI tag (Word) DB2098.DBWxxxx (Obvioously dependant on your drive object number)

See attached, this is set in Starter, the bit inversion is purely from the HMI and requires no parameter intervention as the HMI direct addresses the bit inverter.

That looks like a good idea - I have set up the HMI to toggle selected bits in p2098, but when I try to connect OFF1 p840[0] in the Expert list, I am not seeing p2098 as an option to connect to. Alternatively, if I attempt to connect the second line in the "Receive selection bit by bit 1" in the Communications screen, again p2098 is not an option (I can set up 840[0] on the first line of the list). I also note on your screen shot, line 2  seems to be connected to p2104 (or p2184, it's a bit unclear) - I guess this is an alternative parameter to use than p2098.

Hi Andy, it may have made more sense if I'd posted this manual extract as well.

I use r2094.0 to control P840. r2094.0 is the RESULT of the inversion. If You hover Your mouse over the items as per my original screenshot (Connector Binnector converter dialogue), you should note the inverter "box" appears as P2098[0].0 and the output where P840[0] is entered shows up as r2094.0

The other parameter I used in that particular project was a fault reset, and this was presented to the CU object. The parameter for S110 CU's is P2102 and this will cascade the reset via any connected Drive-Cliq components (My project was an S120 and I used P2104 which is not available in S110)

Graeme - yes that works a treat - brilliant! What confused my was the second input (Receive selection bit 1) being used in your screenshot, it's not actually required. I never thought to actually try it with just the Receive selection bit connected to 840[0]. It had been correct all along all I needed to do was press the set-bit button on my HMI.
