S120: How will the Topology react to an MDS change

Hi, is there a general procedure for changing MDS where the topology of an S120 (CU310 V4.8) is concerned.

I have an application where slightly different 1FT6 motors are available (i.e. one is a spare and must be easliy exchangeable, there are topology differences more than just serial numbers)

Will the errors be acknowledgable, or will the S120 require a power cycle to align the "new" topology component?

So are you saying that it is not possible to change a motor type WITHOUT the use of Starter/Stardrive.

For example, we have a 1FT6105-8SF71-3AH0 motor which needs to be quickly exchangeable with a 1FT7105-5SF71-3NH0 (spare motor)

We had intended to allow maintenance to use a keyswitch to easily select a motor type.

You can work With  datasets. Does  each  motorencoder has  an own  DriveCliq connection, its  very easy. If not use p976 and p977 and store two  different Projects on  the  CF Card  which  you  can  chose  for  power on.  

Hi Zako, we considered having two separate CF cards, after it didn't look so simple. The CU310-2 has only one DQ port, and only one motor will be connected to the machine at one time, the other is a spare.

We wanted to try and make the procedure "*** proof"  such that a shop floor individual could perform it without needing to intervene with Starter, or the horrid BOP-20.
