Hello vipz For IM308, the program is stored on the IM Module ( Usually in a EPROM ),. You can open the program with COM Profibus or COM-ET200 depending on the version. There you will get the details of slave addressing of all the profibus slaves connected to IM308 Unfortunately S5 ( Like other PLCs of its generation ) did not include any hardware configuration. Most of the hardware addressing and settings was based on Fixed slot address ( e.g. 100U ) or through DIP switches or a mix of both. ( e.g. S5-135U ) You will need the original documentation / drawings to understand the hardware configuration ( Or take out each module and note down the settings ). There are no Shortcuts. Some of the CPUs ( e.g. CPU 928 ) do have a Address DB ( Usually DB1 programmed ) which contaings the lits of I/O addresses which will be accessed by the CPU. Hope this helps Cheers Navnag |

Hello vipz Let me try and answer your questions : 1. I have seen this IM with Flash card , then this will be storing the information related to all profibus nodes.ET station's IO CARD'S input and output adress will be available here. Right ? You are Absolutely right ... The Flash Card will be storing the input and output addresses and the Profibus Slave GSD configuration files. You can read the information using the appropriate version of COM Profibus. 2. So if i want to collect this information , which software, cable will be required ? I need to upload by connecting PC to this IM ? You will need COM Profibus Software Here is the :Com Profibus Manual. The Manual describes in details the required procedure. Using COM profibus you can read the IM308 settings online from the IM using a connection to the IM or you can plug in the memory card into a Siemens PG Memory card reader. Unfortunately COM Profibus is not available as a free Download. Here are a couple of threads about Downloading COM Profibus : I'm in need of COM Profibus V5.1 3. What about communication between this IM and CPU ? Is there will be any special blocks in S5 ? If yes FB NAME / NUMBER ? As far as I remember, no Special FBs are required in the S5 / S7 CPU for normal Profibus DP Communication. 4. For converting these stations( ET200M,ET200L, FESTO MODULE)to s7 network , what should i take care apart from proper adress assignment ? You will need the profibus Slave Configuration files of all the profibus slaves to use in your S7 Hardware configuration. These are generally easily available from the respective manufacturers website or from www.profibus.org 5. Can i do s5 to s7 conversion directly from uploaded file, or before converting need to generate cross reference ? I read somewhere like this. But couldnt able to trace now. Yes you can convert the uploaded file,=. Generating the Cross reference does help in smooth conversion. Howeveryou will need to prepare the file for conversion using STEP5 .
