S5-115U CPU-944B !!!Help request!!!

tunel2025 Posts: 3 Rating: (0)	1-st I have started work with Simatic S5-115U, CPU-944B. I have not communication between Step5 and SI 1 interface although I have it with interface SI 2. I thought that maybe SI 1 was broken so I used another CPU-944B card I had. There was the same problem. Online connecton was possible only through connection socket SI 2 and not possible throught SI 1. What is goin on? 2-nd I have on rack only Power Supply and CPU modules. I deleted entire PLC by Overall Reset sequence on CPU card and by delete entire PLC in Step5. There were the following on CPU after deleting: FB240,241,242,243,244,245,246,247,248,249,250,251 OB31,160,251,254,255 DB0, DB1. When I loaded some OB, FB, PB and DB bloks to CPU and I go to RUN, all OB, FB and PB bloks disappear from CPU although DB bloks not. In the ISTACK are signed: REMAN, STOZUS, STOANZ, NEUSTA, BATPUF, KEINAS. After I continued ISTACK there is massage "Function identifier in IF unknown". I don't understend what this message means. After I go to RUN, both LEDs RAN and STOP are lighted through about 40 second and both go OFF. It is interesting that when the selector switch on CPU card is in STOP mode the STOP LED is not lighted. It is interesting that there is the same problems on another CPU 944B cards I have. Why I can not go to RUN? Why the transfered to CPU data are deleted (disappear) after going to RAN.

If you are using a RS232-TTY converter which uses power from CPU port, it can have problem with SI1 of 944 asit does not supply power from this port. If you are using a Siemens PG or a converter with external power supply, it should work OK. SI2 interface has power on the port. 2-nd I have on rack only Power Supply and CPU modules. Refer to the manual here chapter 11. And you will always have it in the memory. After I go to RUN, both LEDs RAN and STOP are lighted through about 40 second and both go OFF. If you have no other module s other than PS and CPU in the rack and the memory module is cleared, you should be able to go to RUN mode. Also if you are not getting STOP led when CPU mode switch is in STOP position, then that points to some HW problem.

tunel2025 Posts: 3 Rating: (0)	Welcome, 1-st I received the information from Siemens support that the power is on the pin 14 of CPU socket. I have measured it on both i.e. SI1 and SI2 and was 5,2 Volts. Maybe difference is between CPU944 (about you wrote) and CPU944B (I work with 944B)? I will continue about it. I still work with the other problems. Thanks Regards

tunel2025 Posts: 3 Rating: (0)	Hello Jose, I have solved my problems afterinserting theIM306 module at the last slot of the rack. Theconnection is possible through SI1 and SI2 port. The LEDs of STOP and RAN mode work correctly. Now Ican continue work with programs. Thanks for help. Best regards.

A little late but info for anyone else in a similar situation. The cover that clips over the backplane connector has a link in it that shorts terminal 30 A to 30 C. Either this cover must be in place or an IM module fitted otherwise you will get this fault. (I know, it bit me)
