Thanks but we dont have a Profibus port on the S5. Only the SI2 port is available |

Hi stack92 presuming your 95U is of type 6ES5-095-8MCxx, its serial Interface caters for:
I suggest you find out first which protocol is actually used by evaluating DB1 in combination with the Manual. Once that is determined, let us know to see what can or needs to be done to link it to an S7. |

Ok, I see and fear I misunderstood that the 95U had an existing link configured to another S5 that now will be replaced with an S7. Nevermind, answer in that case is Yes, a 6ES7340-1AH02-0AE0 card will be OK for the S7-300 comms, along with a TTY to RS232 Converter cable. Personally I think I'd rather upgrade the 95U to an S7 though and save myself the CP340 cost and engineering hassles associated with this link. Still, it'll have to work though as far as I'm concerned. As an option, have a look at Process Informatik's S5-LAN++, it may just be your get out of jail for (almost) free card. |
