i am told by a contractor that the program in an s5 cpu can be damaged or corrupted during the plc to pc download process. i am also told that the cpu can also be damaged during the download. has anyone experienced this happening? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ |

Hello, I am not sure what your contractor is revering too, and why. But I have been working with S5 for the last 40 years and I have never seen a PLC being "damaged" during a upload or download process. Also, long as you use the correct Software (Step 5..... or alternative) and the correct communication cable there will be no issues. I had a PLC once, as you call it corrupted, but only because I loaded FB's that where not part of the CPU family and were pointing to incorrect internal RS registers that halted the PLC. But I was able to recover after a complete reset of the CPU. Regards / m.f.g |
