S5 - IP244

SE2200 Member Joined: 1/24/2011 Last visit: 3/18/2024 Posts: 1 Rating: (0)	Hi, We are using an IP244-temperature controller card (6ES5 244-3AA22) on an 115-rack with CPU945. The installation has worked fine for many years but recently we got a lot of Cpu-stops. The error seems to be a communication-fault with the IP244. The machinemanufacturer tells us to reset the internal memory of the IP244 by removing all power, inclusive the 5V-backup battery. After about 30 minutes, we make an overall reset and startup the machine. Sometimes this works the first time. Sometimes we need several tries. Has anyone had any experience with this kind of problem? Thanks!

I guess the good old S5 has completed its lifespan and you should start planning to retire the same and move over to S7 Good luck Navnag

KayBee Posts: 241 Rating: (7)	Navnag is right about old age. You must start planning to retrofit with new gen plc system. But for the moment why this become OK after PLC reset? What change in the Memory did you realized?Any Data/Parameters/Counters in some data block that change/reset then CPU start runnning again? I hope you can see this all reason in ISTAK /BSTAK, try to tak print screen of them & send here( Though people are loosing interest in S5).

The installation has worked fine for many years but recently we got a lot of Cpu-stops.... Pull out the IP and clean the golden contacts at the backside. You can use electronic cleaning - spray.
