I see that there are lot of questions on S5-S7 conversion. Here are some links that are really helpful. The first link is to the main area which has all the informartion. http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/16612444 Next link is some thing that I find extreamly useful. This is acatalog for a set of interface adaptors that will allow quick change from S5 to S7 without doing any wiring changes on the IO modules. Sounds like magic? This is done using some prefabricatedadaptors thatwill allow you to use the oldfront connectors of S5 to be plugged intoS7 modules.(Normally your connectors are not an issue with your old S5 system asthey arejust 'connectors'. It is the electronics module that you are worried about failing and not able to get spare.)For S7-400 this plugs-in directly on top of the module. For S7-300 there is a rack that mounts both the 300modules andthe adaptorswith S5 connectors. Check out this catalog below S5 S7_Adapter_Eng_V3_0.PDF I think this one is very useful especially when you have less time change-over. (which is always the case). But it also makes faster for IOcheck-out because you did not re-wire the any IOs. There also other helpful things like manuals, S5 COM packages etc in thisarea. Hope thisinfo will be helpful. |
