I'm trying convert S5(95U) to S7(312) FB241 (Code Converter* 16) Will be FC82 (COD_16)....OK not running FC82 on S7-312 status LED "SF" on S7 program OB1 Network 1 CALL "Convert 16 Bin - BCD" DUAL:=IW0 SBCD:=M99.3 BCD2:=MB42 BCD1:=MW43 L MW43 T QW4 please teach me.....Thanks!

dchartier Grandmaster Joined: 9/27/2006 Last visit: 12/31/2024 Posts: 12318 Rating: (2697)	Hello melsec; There probably is some kind of data mismatch in the code of your block; in any case, we would need to see the programm of that block, not the call, in order to analyse it. Now, this being said, whenever the SF LED is active, the diagnostic buffer of the CPU collects data on the source of the problem. It will start by pointing out the number of the OB that can handle such a specific problem (possibly OB121, or OB122); you should create this OB block and download it to the CPU (no need to program any code inside for the moment), then restart it. The CPU will keep operating, even if the SF LED is lit. And you should find more precise information in the diagnostic buffer. If the diagnostic buffer data is confusing, you can save it as text and post it here for us to see, maybe we can point out what the CPU is complaining about. Hope this helps, Daniel Chartier

In S7 you can replace the complete logic give by you with just this much ( Remove the Block Call completely ) L MW43 ITB T QW4 This should do the same job. If problem still there then pl check the Module Information of CPU. By the way are I/O addresses same in S5 and S7. Does QW4 exist ( Q 4.0 to Q 5.7 ) ? Regards Navnag

Where is the description about how to use OB121&122? Incidentally, it was the same result although tried on other CPUs. Are any special cautions required to use S5-S7 Converting Blocks? indication of Mr. Navnag -- like It checked operating, when the program was rewritten. "SF" should not occur. however I want to solve the problem of using S5-S7 Converting Blocks. I ask of you well.

Where is the description about how to use OB121&122? Hello melsec; There are 3 manuals that you should look at, and they are all available on your computer with the installation of Step 7. First: there is a full chapter on S7 Diagnostics in the Programming with Step 7 v. 5.x manual. Here is what it says about the Diagnostic Buffer: Diagnostic Buffer: Overview of events in the diagnostic buffer and detailed information on the selected event To find the cause of a CPU STOP and evaluate the events on the selected module leading to itUsing the diagnostic buffer, errors in the system can still be analyzed at a later time to find the cause of a STOP or to trace back and categorize the occurrence of individual diagnostic events. 23.6.1 Basic Procedure for Determining the Cause of a STOP To determine why the CPU has gone into "STOP" mode, proceed as follows: 1. Select the CPU that has gone into STOP. 2. Select the menu command PLC > Diagnostics/Settings > ModuleInformation. 3. Select the "Diagnostic Buffer" tab. 4. You can determine the cause of the STOP from the last entries in thediagnostic buffer. If a programming error occurs: 1. The entry "STOP because programming error OB not loaded" means, forexample, that the CPU has detected a program error and then attempted tostart the (non-existent) OB to handle the programming error. The previous entry points to the actual programming error. 2. Select the message relating to the programming error. So, in case of "SF", it is recommended that you open the Diagnostic Buffer and examine its contents. It may request a "missing OB", as stated earlier. You have to create and download the required OBxx in the CPU for it to work. Now, an OB (Organization Block) is not "used" by the programmer; it is called only by the operating system, when a condition arises that requires them. All OBs are dedicated to a particular event, or type of event. You will find descriptions of all of the available OBs in the System and Standard Functions manual, also on your hard disk. You may chose to program a small bit of code in the OBxx you download to the CPU, if you wnat. For example, set a bit at startup (OB101) or generate a message when a wirebreak is detected on a module (OB40) or trigger a report at a specific time every day (OB10). But without code they have their use, for instance filling the Diagnostic Buffer with information about the source of the event that called them, and allowing the processor to continue operating even when a certain fault occurs. The 3rd manual you should look at will be the S5 to S7 conversion manual; it does not give explanations on the varions FCs produced by the converter (look them up in the online help of Step 7) but it explains the principles of generation of the blocks in the S7 program. The CPU's operating system cannot execute code that does not exist. Did you insert FC82 in your program? How? Can you see it in your blocks folder? Hope this helps, Daniel Chartier

It is because it is FC which has required "KNOW HOW protection." There is FC82 also by "Call structure" of a program edit screen. FC82 functions -- as -- what operation is required?
