S5 to S7 without breakdown.

jirimatus Posts: 53 Rating: (2)	Hello, I have to rebuild one machine from S5 to S7 system. BUT this machine is very busy, so I have to do it without breakdown. Thus during debuging of S7 code I have to keep both systems alive and I must be able to easy switch from one system to the other one. The machine use only DI and DO (128 + 80), positioning system 2 chanels and OP monitor. Which trick do you use to fast reconnect the I/O wiring ? 1) Place 2nd (temporary) wiring from the terminal blocks to S7 system (all I/O) and then just disconnect front connectors of system which I dont want to use at the moment ? 2) Use some adapter for S5 front connector = If I need to use S7 I disconnect front connectors from S5 and connect them to some "adapters" - the adapter is just something like front part of S5 I/O module which just fits to S5 front connector, but the wires from the adapter go to the S7 front connector which is plugged to S7 I/O module. 3) Try to send I/O signals (+some data) via sinec L1 BUS to S7 here run the porogram and send the output back to the S5? (The S5 cpu is 115U 943, S7 is 314 model) Can you please advice me how to do it ? Thank you for any suggestion. J.

I checked the links to the Phoenix front connector adapter, this is exactly what I need BUT I cannot pay 400$ for one simple connector (+wires) !!!! I decided to place temporary wiring for all signals from terminal block to the S7 300 system (see picture). Of course, the unused system will be disconnected (by means of the front connectors), so allways only one system will be "on-line". Do you thing this is OK? What shoul I be careful of ? Then you only have to plug the Profibus and motion control wires. If you need a IM308C - i have it in stock. You also can rent it. Syntax_err Posts: 12 Rating: (0)	One other option less expensive than the Phoenix modules is contained in the attachment. These adapters are manufactured by Siemens.
