S7-1200 and step motor

I know that I have to use Axis tehnological object and PLCopen function blocks in STEP 7 Basic. Between PLC and step motors must exist modul which will convert the pulse signal to the movement of motor. (like ET 200S-Module 1 STEP; link: https://www.automation.siemens.com/simatic/regelsysteme/html_76/produkte/sb-step.htm ) Am i right? Can I provide a step motor control without this module, only with S7-1200? Thanks Gaspar

[url]http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/38391227[/url] There is also a drive between motor und S7-1200 which convert pulse and sign from S7-1200 for the motor. Here is one more example with step drive and S7-200: [url]http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/21061963[/url] There is a step drive between S7-200 and motor too. So I think you need a step drive, which convert pulse and sign to a signal which motor understand. Isn't there a step drive for your kind of motor? In fact, for S7-1200 there is no extra modul to do this. I think the module you linked do nothing more, then generates pulse. S7-1200 do this via PLCOpen control blocks and e.g. output Q0.0. best regards

kosta Advanced Member Joined: 2/17/2008 Last visit: 10/27/2024 Posts: 50 Rating: (4)	No, you can not do this without drive .. steppers usually have 2 phases and that is bipolar .. so you would need 4 outputs to control motor.. also you have to have limited current of the output, which is not setable for s71200 digital outputs .. stepper drives provide for different power consumption of motors and thats the way you need to go.

I must create the DataBlock where i put the data which contain some position , which will be send to the Program (the block "MC_Power)? When i downloaded the program to the PLC i want started the stepper motor ( i have the stepper driver) but the outputs which were responsible for PTO and DIR were inactive, so i suppose that i must send the data with the position if i want run the program ? but i dont know how can i do it . Best Regards
