S7-1200 could handle it?

I have to do a project with a S7-1217c CPU, 3 ET200sp IM155-6 pn st, 1 HMI Comfort panel and PC Operator working as SCADA.

Signals recount are this:  -32xAnalog Inputs -23xAnalog Outputs -18xThermocouples -52xDigital Outputs -28xDigital Inputs. All of this signals will be connected to ET200sp , the cpu will have not modules on it connected.

I'll program five PID's blocks , rest of project just operation on analog outputs, digital outputs, reading signals...

My main doubt is about S7-1217 memory work, could handle this project or i should think in s7-1511 for example, other doubt is about profinet network, could this s7-1217c works fine with all elements at same time?

We simply can’t tell you if its possible as we don’t know how efficient your code will be, and even when it’s very efficient ho much data you need to store in memory or retain on power off.

We need much more specification on how your program will look like, and what kind of functionalities it need to have.

To be sure you can simply program the code in TIA Portal and see if in the Program info if the memory is sufficient. When it’s not you can simply change the CPU to an more advanced model.

As all your i/o is of the et200sp range, I would advise to use an distributed controller like the S7-1512SP. Including memory card and Busadapter.

Price is the same as your S7-1217c and you have much more memory, speed, resources, functionality and 3 ethernet ports.

Also you save an IM155-6PN, so in the end you actually saved some money and got more of everything.

Your answer was really helpfull, i usually don't work with Siemens hardware and i did not know about S7-1512SP prices and possibilities..

What do you mean with "Also you save an IM155-6PN, so in the end you actually saved some money and got more of everything.". Cause i understood to use S7-1512SP instead S7-1217c but keeping the others ET200sp IM155-6PN. Ohh wait maybe you wrote that cuz i can save one of them(ET200sp) if one of them is the CPU, it's right.? I have to think about all wiring work on plant to do that.

The distributed controller, is a ET200SP cpu. So you have 2 devices in 1 component (the CPU and IM155-6PN). The et200sp i/o cards can be directly connected to the controller as the et200sp backplane/busbar is onboard the cpu.

So you place the distributed controller on the position where you were planning to place the  IM155-6PN. The position of the 1217 becomes free.

The S7-1217c CPU is actually only for companies that have TIA portal Basic instead of professional and need to programa larger program only once. Else the 1500 series are much more efficient.

I assume you have TIA Portal Professional as you mention a Comfort panel and SCADA.

Did you already select a SCADA system, or do you just need a remote PC that actually needs to have the same functionality as the comfort panel.

When it needs to have the same functionality you have 2 options:

1. You can install a WinCC advanced runtime on the PC and program the functionality in TIA portal with WinCC advanced engineering. When you have programmed the comfort panel you can easily copy and paste the comfort project to the advanced project and it will run on the PC. (exact runtime licence is depending on the number of powertags you will use)
2. Also a much cheaper option is to use the Sm@rtServer (VNC) functionality that already is included in your comfort panel. Than you only need to have sm@rtClient or any ordinary VNC software, and your able to take-over the Comfort panel similar to teamviewer or windows remote desktop.

For real SCADA Siemens provides WinCC Professional Runtime for installation on a PC or SCADA server, also in here you can program the SCADA in TIA Portal with a WinCC Professional engineering licence. As WinCC professional is in the TIA Portal it is not the same as any other WinCC you cannot just copy and past your Comfort panel to the SCADA project, you will have a lot of challenges as the setup is different. (exact runtime and engineering licence is depending on the number of powertags you will use)

I really want to give you a hug :) . Thanks for all information, i guess all PLC system is clear thanks to you, anyway i will have a meeting with my local distribuitor of Siemens. I had TIA Portal Basic for that reason i only have worked with S7-1200 , now on this project i will buy a Proffesional version as you say...needed for comfort panels, s7-1500 or ET200 with CPU...

Your information about SCADA system will be really helpfull to my workmate, he is managing HMI and SCADA system.
