s7-1200 cpu 'not compatible'

We 're intimate but when I change a data interface of a fb (sometimes I have to correct myself) and I download the changes the whole plc goes in alarm. Sometimes tia crashes. Conflict of code and data. Compile all/download won't help. I'm already an expert in avoiding those situations by commenting the right code en then uncommenting it (try to edit if statements before case and watch it blows). Now I was forced to do a factory reset (mres seems to do nothing) and lost contact with my friend. Only way I know of (undocumented) is to insert a 'unspecified cpu' and detect hardware. But my friend unspecified (aka 10.0.0.101, cpu 1214 yadayada) is miles away, capable of doing 'only' tcp/udp. 'Detecting' is using some non routable proto so there it ends. Here I sit. Lost contact with my friend and feeling the pressure of the long due project. Ideas welcome in restoring a long relation. (tried to set up an vpn bridge configuration but failed) Any other way to connect and restore my prg?
