S7 1200 Data Logging issue

Hello everyone!

I want to log my modbus data in  a csv file at an event of ethernet  link disconnetion.

1)Now the problem is that my data is total around 1200(tags) so at a time it doesnt let me create data log file for 1200 tags.(The maximum i have done is 251). Which means i need to create 6 different files.

2) Without header there is no meaning of a data file. Again if i define header as string it gives me limitation till 256. And if i try to define as an array then only first element comes and rest other doesnt.

I want to know whether its possible to log these many records at a time with headers(1200) or not in S7 1200 datalogging feature.

• HEADER parameter for the DataLogCreate instruction: the data type may be a STRING, Array of BYTE, or Array of CHAR data type can be used for the individual column names. When the STRING data type is used, the length is limited to 254 bytes. When the Array of BYTE and Array of CHAR are used, 5000 elements are possible.
• Data parameter for the DataLogCreate instruction: the total number of data elements declared should correspond to the number of columns specified in the header parameter. The maximum number of data elements you can assign is 253 (with a timestamp) or 255 (without a timestamp). This restriction keeps your record inside the 256 column limit of an Excel sheet.
• A maximum of eight Data log files may be open at one time.

Sorry to say but i tried doing it with Array of  char with Header but its not showing still.

I am defining as Array of Char 0 to 149 and in 1st element i.e. h[0] = 'v' as its character it can take only one so in h[1]= 'v2'

so in my file m getting as vv2 in one column.

I dont want like that ,I want headings for each column seperately like h[0]= VoltagePhase_RY

h[1]= VoltagePhase2

Now these two should come in different columns .

If i am defining as array of string then only first element is coming and rest all are nit coming.

Please help

I think you forgot to put the "comma" between the tag names in the header array.

Please get the attached files for the sample project and csv (just tested with 3 tags, the rule is the same).

No.

This option is not at all feasible if you want to log so much of data.

1) You can't get headers in the column for all the tags. 

*** As for getting headers , you should give an Array of Characters ( again you will face limitation in the quantity) ...also you cannot give array of strings as it doesn't work .

2) For logging more than 250 tags you need to write the Data log Create and Write blocks as many times as the tag number will increase , i.e for 1200 tags 1200/250  = 4 blocks (4 *2 =8 (Create and Write) 

 So all and all data logging feature in 1200 or TIA doesn't give that much flexibility as it would be required for an application.

Always go for it when the data log quantity is less.
