S7-1200 firmware 4.2 compatibility issue

windberry Advanced Member Joined: 2/15/2017 Last visit: 1/19/2023 Posts: 5 Rating: (1)	Hello, I have project with CPU 1214C DC/DC/DC (6ES7 214-1AG40-0XB0) FW 4.0 in STEP 7 Professional V13. I have downloaded configuration to new CPU 1214C DC/DC/DC FW 4.2 and CPU went to STOP mode displaying this diagnostic event: Event ID: 16# 02:3956 Error: Hardware component not available due to a parameter assignment error - (ARP / parameter assignment pending) Pending startup break reason: - Unacceptable configuration difference (wrong or missing component) \|> HW_ID= 257 The object under HW_ID 257 is high speed counter HSC 1. I disabled this HSC and everything was OK. So can this issue be fixed or my only option is to open project in Step 7 V14 and change CPU type to FW 4.2?

William_B Posts: 5225 Rating: (1160)	strange - I did not see such an issue. But I had the CPU configured as a FW4.1. Mine was configured with TIA V13.0.1.9. Would you mind checking that? Please check what happens if you use another HSC.

But after power supply reset the fault came back again. There is Diagnostic buffer log in attachment with last power reset from event 11. With only HSC 2 enabled there is same issue with belonging HW_ID. I get same issue with three CPUs i have. I'll purchase TIA 14 and try. Attachment CPU1214_DIAG.txt (343 Downloads)

If not, then you need to downgrade the firmware, or upgrade the device in the project. If portal does not allow 4.2 as a selection, upgrade to V14 and get any hardware support pack for V14 that might add 4.2 firmware support as required. I just got a new CPU with 4.2 FW and getting warning when downloading (V13), but things seem to be working fine otherwise.

windberry Advanced Member Joined: 2/15/2017 Last visit: 1/19/2023 Posts: 5 Rating: (1)	I have updated my project to TIA V14. First I forgot to change device to FW version to 4.2, I downloaded version 4.0 and got the same result. I changed to version 4.2 and everything is OK now
