S7-1200 I-device over wireless.

AutoGen_596559 Regular Member Joined: 8/13/2013 Last visit: 2/17/2025 Posts: 2 Rating: (0)	Has anyone attempted to connect two S7 1200 family processors together with one configured as an i-device over an ethernet wireless connection? I have done this reliably with S7-300 and IM151 processors but I cannot seem to make this work with the S7-1200s. The S7-1200 are firmware 4.0 supporting i-device. The S7 300 setup was done WITHOUT IPCF on a standard 802.11a configuration which is what i have setup now with the S7 1200. It works fine when wired direct, but not wireless. Over wireless all functions (download, online, ping) work fine just not idevice. Am i missing something obvious? I have set the Io update time on the idevice unit to no avail. Thanks for any help!!!!

The S7-300 setup had one more detail that I was overlooking. The client needed to be set for L2T. This is not exactly possible with the client used in this application, but adopt MAC ID is, and that solved the problem. I only have one profinet device (S7-1214) behind the client so this was the best approach. Moral of the story for anyone else reading this post: Profinet uses MAC ID's and the IO Master must be able to find the MAC behind a switch, client, or router. Everything else uses IP's and likely unaffected by filtering and routing issues.
