My application include (attachment "plc") : S7-1200, HMI KTP400 and IM 151-3 PN (Tia Portal 14). Wireless connection was made with ubiquity antenna

In the first case (A), i'm trying connect through wireless antenna, but BF red LED blinking 0.5 Hz. What is weird, I'cant even ping IM 151-3 (3) from other computers, but PLC(1) and HMI(2) ping great.

When I connect IM 151-3 PN(3) direct to the switch on the other side (case B) it work great, although I also can't ping IM 151-3 PN. In this case IM 151-3 PN appear in online access tap.

3) Is it mandatory to use profinet switches, if I don't need real time communication ?

Can I use simple industrial ethernet for IM151-3 PN? (which option should I choose [attached picture] ?)

Dear PioBzdrega,

I think you are confused about the meaning of Real Time Communication, your S7-1200 used RT communication when it tried to establish connetion with your ET200s. Every profinet device used RT communications, by this way they communicated each other.

I just found this post on PI, office switches dont handle communications the same way like industrial switches for Profinet communications.

I think you have this issue because of the IO cycle time configured on your ET200S, your should have it at defaulf value 6 ms, because of this, your switch is not fast enough to forward packets to the PLC.

You can see your IO Clycle time of your ET200s if you select it, go to Properties, PROFINET, Advanced Options, IO Cycle, Watchdog time.

I understand that its cheaper to buy non industrial switches, but that dont guarantee that would work the same like a industrial switch.

We noticed that radio communication work quite week, by reason of noise. We could ping each siemens device, but bus fault blink all the time. We decide to change our access to network on the attachment picture , but nothing except faster response happend.
