Which is the factory IP address for this PLC? I tried with 192.168.0.1 but I am not able to connect with PLC. I know only the MAC address, which is written on PLC. How can I connect with this PLC? I am a beginner on Siemens PLC's. Can you help me, please!

Radel Silver Member Joined: 3/14/2016 Last visit: 9/1/2024 Posts: 162 Rating: (46)	Make sure you have a physical connection with your PLC. Don't need to bother about IP address or submaks. Without opening any project on TIA. Go on the Project Tree and select the Online Access. Choose your network adapter that is on the same physical network as your PLC (Cable or Router/Switch) and search it by clicking on the "Update accessible devices". After confirming the MAC Address open the PLC and use the "Assign IP address" tool. Assign an avaliable IP address within your network and set the submask to the same as your PC (You can find your configuration by typing "ipconfig" on the Command Prompt)

I connect to the PLC with Ethernet cable. 1. I tried to connect using New project -> "Update accessible devices". Does not work. 2. I tried with online& Diagnostics. Does not Work. It says "not reachable". 3. I added my PLC to project. See capture9. It seems to be online but I am not sure because of that red "X". If in capture9 I am online how can I assign an IP? To accelerate your learning and to facilitate your getting connected, try downloading, installing, and using the SIMATIC Automation Tool available here: https://support.industry.siemens.com/cs/document/98161300/simatic-automation-tool-the-commissioning-and-service-operation-tool-for-simatic-modules?dti=0&lc=en-WW You launch the software, scan network adapter you have a direct connection with your PLC (probably on your desk from the starter kit?). It should show a mac address and s7-1214 called S7-COMMON or something without a real PLC name or IP address. You then assign it an IP address that matches your project. At this point, I would probably power cycle the plc and try the automation tool again. If it comes up and says it sees your plc with the ip address you programmed, you know you were successful. Now you can open TIA Portal and try to download the hardware configuration of your project (this will assign a name and create a good connection).
