S7-1200, Magelis HMI, and Derived DataBlocks

Idealii Posts: 1 Rating: (0)	I have a S7-1200 program which uses data blocks derived from PLC data types. The data blocks are created in non-optimized mode to allow access by a Magelis HMI. When the HMI attempts to update the DB values, the changes are not always reflected in the PLC. I have done a fair amount of testing and have determined that a Global DB created to mirror the exact structure of the derived DB appears to work perfectly with the HMI. This would seem to eliminate any protocol issues between the Magelis HMI and the PLC. The problem seems to be centered around an issue with derived data blocks and external access via the S7 protocol. I suspect a possible issue with the compile software in STEP 7, but that is just a guess. Is anyone familiar with this issue? Are there some settings in STEP 7, the HMI, or the PLC I need to check? If needed, I could provide sample project files which exhibit this behavior. Here are some specs from my setup: CPU 1214C AC/DC/Rly (6ES7 214-1BG31-0XB0) Firmware 3.0.1 SIMATIC STEP 7 Basic V11.0 + SP2 SE, Release K11.00.02.02_02.04.00.07 Magelis HMIS5T Firmware 6.0.3.142 Vijeo Designer V6.0.3.142 SP3 142-142 Thank you in advance.

I experienced a similar problem, always using a Magelis HMI with a 1214 CPU, even if I don't think that HMI type affects it. Effectively global data blocks show the offset value, where multi instancedata blocks, even if created in non-optimized mode, don't . So it's impossible linking them to HMI tags. Please anyone let me know if the issue has been solved in V12, because I'm still using V11.
