S7 1200-modbus-data format for DATA_PTR

luciferC4 Bronze Member Joined: 1/25/2006 Last visit: 2/9/2023 Posts: 257 Rating: (60)	Hi, Modbus system: S7 1200 CPU1212 as modbus master and 11 slaves (power meters). I tried to make system with one FB block with local variablesand 11 data blocks forpolling slaves and that in OB1 block FB is called 11 time. But when I tried to configure MB master (FB1081), on position DATA_PTR (for pointer) I used local variable, called pointer with data type "variant". But, compiling program note me that I made a mistake. In attachment you can see where is problem. Can someone tell me where is mistake? Thanks. Attachment modbus-DATA_PTR.JPG (1373 Downloads)

hbrianjr Posts: 13 Rating: (4)	Hi - the DATA_PTR parameter must be declared as an InOut declaration. Move your pointer to the InOut section of the local interface area.

Open the picture attached with the first post in this thread. Notice the "pointer" variable in the function parameters (above the code window), inside the Input section? Look further in the list of patameters, you will find a section for input/output parameters, this is where the pointer variable should have been assigned Hope this helps. Daniel Chartier
