S7-1200 Modbus TCP/IP with Sentron PAC3200 4 word long register.

Nikzitronik Posts: 150 Rating: (18)	Hello, I succesfully connected my S7-1200 to my PAC3200 meter getting all the data I need, except the active energy counters. The reason is that as per the manual (A5E01168664B-03, page 41) the modbus register 801 is 4 words long. How can I read a 4 word long register in S7-1200, what data type should be used, or is there any work around? For the time the solution I gave is that I assigned an one pulse per unit on the DO of the meter and then I assigned the Universal counter to the DO. All this is done in the meter. On the PLC side instead of reading the KWh register, I read the universal counter register. this is ok when you need to read only energy import tarrif 1 as there is only one universal counter. My next project involves a biogas gennerator that I need to monitor both tarriffs and both import and export.Therefore I need to find a way to read the 4word long register in the S7-1200. Any ideas? You will have to read it using to 2-word values and recombine these back into your 4-word value at the receiving end. Is the 4-word value a real (floating point) value? alkimux Advanced Member Joined: 5/16/2011 Last visit: 10/12/2024 Posts: 15 Rating: (0)	I've done a similar application just two days ago, About the DOUBLE data, yes, you need to read 2 consecutive registers (2 words) and you can then declare the data on the PLC using the type LReal to see the actual number.
