pctguy Regular Member Joined: 3/16/2009 Last visit: 5/10/2023 Posts: 10 Rating: (1)	Hello, Is it possible to make online edits or downloads to the S7-1200 with Step-7 Basic (TIA Portal 10.5)? In other words, with Step-7 and the S7-300/400 you can download edited blocks to the PLC without taking the PLC out of Run Mode. Is this possible with the S7-1200 in Step-7 Basic?

glubb Posts: 26 Rating: (4)	Hello, what do you mean by "online edits"? When you modify/create a block and download it, the PLC will be put into STOP. Then the program will be downloaded, after the download you have to set it into RUN mode again. This is the current behavior. Regards

pctguy Regular Member Joined: 3/16/2009 Last visit: 5/10/2023 Posts: 10 Rating: (1)	Allen Bradley PLCs and some other PLCs allow 'online edits' where you can make edits to a network without the PLC leaving Run mode. With S7-300 PLCs you can download blocks to the PLC without going out of Run mode. Is it possible to download individual blocks to the S7-1200 without going to Stop mode?

Now, it is possible to change the S7-200 software without stop the CPU. Like this, at this moment the S7-1200 needs go to STOP mode to receive a download.

This is a good question, and represents a compettive advantage for our adoption of the S7-1200 (vs. Wago) Siemens shold provide some indication that this is comming or just can't be done ever. Some others.... 1) uploading retentive data to an offline project (USA Techsupport TIA Portal V11 will support his - currently slated for November release. 2) Native Modbus TCP support. (ETA?, Functions supported)
