s7-1200 running in 125% full working memory.

arturn73 Posts: 5 Rating: (0)	Hello, I'm making some changes in a s7-1200 that is running with 125% full of work memory, the customer said that the machine is working for a long time with no problem, my question is, what kind of problem can we expect working in a condition like this ? Thanks.

Do you have that program loaded into the PLC now?... 125% over the capacity? As far as I know it should not be possible to do that; the software should not allow this - there is no room for it. Or is the new additions predicted to be 25% more than the capacity - not loaded yet. It would be interesting to see the readings of load memory and work memory in a screen capture. Also please include the part number of the PLC and the firmware version. PS - no star rating required for me... just help me understand your problem fully so we can help you fully. Regards, w

I do no have much concrete info to help with - sorry. There is a buffer area that the PLC keeps clear for loading new code while the PLC is running. If the buffer is reduced, bigger codes will force the PLC to stop. - - or at least that is my technical opinion. You should be fine (opinion not fact) but probably the loading of segments might make life difficult for you. Elsewhere we had discussion about memory usages and how it can be reduced. Maybe <huggy_d1> sees this conversation and adds some facts for us. Please do include the PLC firmware info for us... there may be option locked away that we can help with later on. Regards. w

The screenshots you are showing us are offline-screenshots. I guess the changes you made at the project have exeed the limits of the CPU and this should not be able to load. Please go online and have a look in online and diagnosics. There you can see how much memory is really used by a bar chart. hope this helps, regards,
