s7-1200 wtih a CM 1242-5 PROFIBUS Slave module, connected to a network with an S7-300 as master and other s7-200 as slave modules.

4ntares Advanced Member Joined: 2/7/2011 Last visit: 3/20/2024 Posts: 10 Rating: (0)	We have an s7-1200 wtih aCM 1242-5 PROFIBUS Slave module, connected to a network with an S7-300 as master and other s7-200 as slave modules. How can I configure the s7-1200 to work with this network and the master could read data from this PLC?

Do you have the ability to insert your s7-1200 slave into the s7-300 master so it is aware the slave is there? Is your S7-300 project a portal project or legacy step 7? If you know the profibus network details (subnet, etc.), you can add the info to your S7-1200 profibus slave so it can participate on the profibus network as part of the existing network. There are settings in the profibus network, on the module, and on the profibus connector on the module, each of which allow some flexibility in how the PLC connects and communicates with the existing PB network. If you have TIA Portal Pro, you should be able to configure it all in one project which would make this much simpler to accomplish. If not, you will also need to use your S7-300 PB configuration tools to add in this slave device with x input/y output for cyclic communications. Check the attached image for one example of the S7-1200 options for using the existing PB subnet details. There are many screens to configure or at least review. The project at this stage is a stand-alone system, which, in the future, will be integrated into a PB network. This network will serve only data logging purposes. Thus, at the moment Ican't insert my s7-1200 slave into the s7-300 master and I have no information about that part of the network and its configuration software. My problem is that the compiler gives me this error regarding the profibus network and I can't work at the user program without any profibus configuration: "Error in I-slave : No assignment of logical master/slave addresses."

Since you have a lot of unknowns, send your question to Siemens Support Requestand let them work out how to make it work. Without some knowledge about the s7-300 master PB configuration, it may be very difficult to get the slave "admitted" onto the network.
