s7-1214C DC/DC/Relay conneciton problem

Hello everyone,

I have a relatively old CPU (1214C DC/DC/Relay Version 2.1) that I use in my lab from time to time and used to be able connect to it but I tried to connect to it last week and was unable to. After trying for a couple of days I reset it to factory default using a Memory Card and still was unable to connect to it. Then I put a small program on the card and plugged it in the unit  and now I can connect to it whenever the card is  plugged in but if I remove the card I can no longer connect to it. Tried all the usual stuff with different subnets and IPs but can't figure out what the issue is. I have another CPU version 3.0 that I can connect to with no problem.

CPU: 1214C DC/DC/Relay version 2.1

TIA13-SP2 (this problem started when I had TIA13-SP1 update-9 installed)

I think you may need to update your CPU FW version.

The PLC is question cannot update to the version you refer to. Note also that FW4.2.1 is the newest firmware version.

You seem to have covered all the bases.

How was your MMC prepared for the program that "worked" if the card was inserted? There is a preparation method that keeps the program only on the card. Another will load the program in PLC memory. Which way did you do?

Out of desperation, I would load the firmware file onto the MMC and reload the PLC. Even an older version, just to ensure that there is a change. Next I would test the cleaned-out PLC with Step7 V11.

Do make sure that your equipment (PC / network switch) are set to expected and fixed network addressing.

I used the MC as a program card and after reading your post I tried it as transfer card and that worked, I can now connect to the unit without the card.

I used to be able to connect to any CPU even with the maintenance LED is lit but not anymore. Selecting unknown CPU and clicking on detect doesn't work either, now I have to select the right CPU, firmware version, IP and subnet. I think must've recently installed a software that's interfering with TIA.
