I'm having problems accessing a 1214C via C#. I can make the connection without problems but that's it. No access to variables or DBs. I've tried Snap7, Sharp7, etc. I've also tried commercial solutions (ASComm by Automated Solutions) and the only consistent response from the PLC is "CPU doesn't support that function" when I try to read a DB or any other memory location.

Is there a special range of 1214 CPUs that can be accessed via C#?

Use only non optimized DBs and activate PUt/Get Communication in the security Settings of the PLC (in Firmware V4.X or newer).

I'm trying to connect via a C# (.NET and Visual Studio) application and a TCP connection.

The PLC model is 6ES7 214-1BG40-0XB0 with a V04.02.00 firmware version.

Some Snap7 functions work, others return errors or bad format (uint or word doesn't seem to be an appropriate data type in reading DBs or memory marks).

in case of using simply sockets connection via TCP or UDP ( and .NET) you can't exchange data with PLC directly (only if know internal messaging depended protocol). If this is your case, you need set open user communication in PLC, exchange data via own defined criteria and then fill your memory with variables. Can you confirm?

Update: aaaah ok, probably you're asking about Snap7, you're using this library. In this case sry with help...

I can't believe that the solution to access the CPU was simply changing to the "German" notation, i.e. from "IW0" to "EW0" or "QW0" to "AW0" !!
