S7-1500 into existing Step7/WinCC project

Hi Guys

We have a current project Step 7 (V5.6) and WinCC (V7.4) that has four S7-300 controllers.

We have added a new plant section with a S7-1517-3PN/DP CPU which we have programmed with TIA Portal V17.

We would like to add the new 1500 CPU to our existing Step 7/WinCC project. Can this be done? If so, what steps do we need to follow so that its tags can be exposed to be used in our current WinCC project. 

I would assume that we could pass data to one of the existing S7-300 CPU so that it can be used in WinCC but this seems unnecessarily?

Your advice is appreciated.

Hello jakalas;

WinCC v7.4 includes a S7-1200/S7-1500 channel  so you can directly integrate your new S7-1500 CPU into your existing WinCC project. Would that solve your issues?
