Hi everyone,

I need to send ASCII commands to an electronic balance (for example : "TARE", "PRINT").

The balance reference is Shimadzu UX4200:

Communication protocol of the balance is RS232.

CPU is S7 1517F-3 PN/DP and only Profinet port is available.
A fieldbus gateway is already installed (RS232 -> Profinet I/O)
The gateway reference is Leuze MA248i:

GSD file is provided by the gateway manufacturer and installed.
Commands are to be written to a 20 bytes output module (%QB256), and results are to be read through a 20 bytes input module (%IB256).

After having looked for documentation, I think I have to use acyclic communication because commands to the balance must be sent when the user decides it.

So using SFB52 and SFB53 (RDREC and WRREC) should do the trick, right?
For acyclic communication, I have read that data record must be read.
What I really don't know is if I can be able to read and write %IB and %QB when using RDREC and WRREC.

Any help or tips would be welcome.

It seems you didn't need to write data to your profinet slave.

So you only read addresses set in Device configuration.

If anyone else has an experience with using WRREC for sending ASCII commands to output modules
