S7-1515-2 PN and ET200B

Dear Experts,

I would like to know if it's possible to use a mid-range S7-1500 series CPU with CM or CP module as PROFIBUS DP Master together with a number of older ET200B series remote I/O stations?
The details are as follows:

CPU 1515-2 PN (6ES7 515-2AM01-0AB0)
 with either 
CM 1542-5  (6GK7 542-5DX00-0XE0)
 or
CP 1542-5 (6GK7 542-5FX00-0XE0)

 and
ET200B modules (a collection and combinations of the following):

Terminal Block: 6ES7 193-0CB10-0XA0
16 DI:   6ES7 131-0BH00-0XB0
16 DO: 6ES7 132-0BH0.-0XB0 or  6ES7 132-0BH1.-0XB0
32 DI:   6ES7 131-0BL00-0XB0
32 DO: 6ES7 132-0BL0.-0XB0

Software: TIA Portal/STEP7 Professional V15

Yes, I know that the ET200B devices have been discontinued back in 2015. But there are GSD files available (ca. year 2000). So, it looks like there is a possibility to link all of these devices together.
But I would need to be sure! Is there some issues that I need to be aware of? Any possible firmware or software updates which could be critical for this task?
Please share your Expert Opinion with me.

Also, please recommend which module CM 1542-5 or CP 1542-5 is more suitable for this task.

I had the experience of connecting various old third-party devices via PROFIBUS (such as CNC Fanuc or their Robots, or tomographs ... a lot of everything)

The main thing is that the GSD file coincides with the firmware on the device (although even this usually had no problems)

There may also be a nuance in the version of the GSD (GSD file itself) ( it is necessary to clarify what TIA PORTAL supports (again, there were rarely any problems with this)))

The easiest way to check is to create a project, stuff all the equipment in there and try to compile everything (half success)

If everything is ok, you can move on (my opinion)

They differ in performance and the number of possible connections (how many devices, how much data will be transmitted, and so on).

You choose all this for your tasks - if there are few devices (up to 30 for example), and the amount of data for one device is less than 8 bytes, then choose CP 1542-5 - this is just an example ...

No, I have not experienced any problems while configuring devices (but everything happens for the first time)))

I have succeeded in testing a 1515-2 PN PLC together with CP 1542-5 PROFIBUS (master) module and a collection of several remote I/O modules of ET200B and ET200U series. I tried PROFIBUS DP speeds of 187.5 Kbps, 500 Kbps and 1.5 Mbps.

The test was done using TIA V15.

No counter-intuitive actions were needed for this tests and no major issues were observed.

Hope this would help somebody sometime.
