S7-300 and TouchPanel

mark80me Posts: 5 Rating: (0)	hi all, I have a existing S7-300 system with SCADA where connect via CP-343. The port of S7-300 have MPI address 2 (networked named MPI) and CP-343 have MPI address 3 (network named Ethernet). All working fine with configuration above. Then, i configurate a TouchPanel that connect with S7-300 MPI port. But once i connect the communication cable from TouchPanel to PLC, all communication down including ethernet. But there is no fault on system, process still running. I have recheck all communication configuration between PLC and TouchPanel, all fine nothing work. My question is, do i need to terminate either end of the cable with 220ohm resistor as i reviewed some previous forum? 2nd, can i un-network the S7-300's MPI port? If i do so, can i still communicate with PLC from my laptop via Siemens PC Adapter if i want to do any download/upload later? Thanks you very much. regards, Mark

rusli_rusli Bronze Member Joined: 3/31/2009 Last visit: 7/16/2024 Posts: 191 Rating: (3)	cp343 is ethernet cp there should be no mpi address on it, basically just ip address and mac address.. is there any sf led on the plc ? on some plc, you need to network the available communication port on cpu ( even you not added any node into it ) for it to work.. check your existing hardware config. br rusli

mark80me Posts: 5 Rating: (0)	Thanks rusli, There is no fault LED at any of the module. process still running. Just only all communication disconnected. If i connect SCADA with PLC via Ethernet only, there is no problem. But if connect with TouchPanel via MPI together, all connection down. I just wonder what happen. regards, Mark

Hello Mark, CPU MPI port (resistor should be ON) -> Panel MPI port (resistor should be ON). In order to have connection via MPI with touch panel, MPI port on CPU should be networked. I suggest you to use a 6ES7972-0BB42-0XA0 connector in CPU side in order to have a possibility to connect panel and your PG. And take in mind the distance between CPU and panel in case of MPI connection. So, when the netowrk is down, did you check in diagnostic buffer of CPU what is wrong there? What is the recommend ohm for TouchPanel side? 220 ohm? can it be higher or lower? what the tolerant rate? Oopps, i forgot to check the diagnotics on the sport when the time happen.
