Hello Experts, I have a SICK barcode scanner CLV620-0120 which has 200bytes input and 200byte output memory, it has an Ethernet/IP port, I can connect it to Allen Baradley CompactLogix L32E with Ethernet/IP porteasily and got the scanning result.Allen BaradleyEthernet/IP port provide memory mapping configuration,but I couldn't get the mapping from SIEMENS's.I don't have any idea on how to connect it to SIEMENS S7-300. I tried to connect it to CP-343-1 Lean through a switch, it can be connected, but I don't know how to get the data that passed from SICK barcode scanner.Please help.

We have an application with S5 S7 Communication This works with CP525 On the S5 Side and an CP341 RS232 TTY On the S7 Side |

Hello Leon; The reason it is so easy to communicate with your CompactLogix PLC is because you were using Ethernet/IP, which is a protocol used by Rockwell, with your barcode scanner; Siemens does not support this protocol, so you have to change the way you connect to the barcode. First, you could look for a protocol converter between Rockwell's Ethernet/IP and Siemens' Industrial Ethernet (on the CP 343-1). Siemens has an application note on the use of an Echochange gateway just for this purpose: Communication between SIMATIC S7 and Allen-Bradley ControlLogix CPUs via Ethernet: Use of "Echochange" gateways Or you could use other protocols supported by Sick:you could selecttheir TCP/IP interface, also supported by the CP 343-1; you will have to program all the data exchange strings between the PLC and the scanner; ask Sick for more technical information. Or you could use a Profibus-DP interface between the S7-300 CPU and the barcode reader. This would be the easiest solution fior you, as Profibus-DP is natively supported by most Siemens PLCs.Sick will provide the required module and gsd file, along with the registers available for data exchange.
