S7 300 CPU does not become online

Using the profibus/MPI port of the PG: You should have profibus cable with suitable length and two bus connectors: 2. Using USB port of the PG: You have to use USB PC adapter. Another old method is to use PC adapter with serial interface and connect its serial side to the Com port of a PC/PG. It's not allowed to connect SUB-D 9 pin sockets directlly between PC/PG and CPU. It won't work and may damage your com port of PC/PG as there is 24VDC on a pin of the nine pins of MPI /DP port of the CPU. Regards,

maestros Posts: 2 Rating: (0)	9 pin subD plug communication is possible between Siemens field PG and CPU, if its a MPI connection. am connecting my Siemens field PG with S7 300 CPU by using 9 pin MPI connection. dear if u are using MPI, please check the MPI address.

J_Bell Posts: 5822 Rating: (412)	Hello, if you have a Field PG and a CPU 317 you do not need any further adaptor. The only thing you need is the MPI Cable delivered with your Field PG. On the PG/PC interface settings you need to use the access point for Application: S7 Online together with MPI (Auto) ->CP 5611or MPI -> CP 5611. The settings on the CP should be like Baud rate 187,5 kBit/s Address 1 only Master on the bus : true. This usually works with most PLCs delivered from the factory. By the way, do not forget to pug the S7 MMC if you use the CPU. Best regards J_Bell

how come Posts: 382 Rating: (47)	Dear mohit, To add on to J_Bell input, if you are using PC Com port you cancommunicate using the following methods [see attach]. There are two setup depending which type of programming cable you have, one is 9-pin com adapter and the otheris USB adapter. Hope these information are useful toyou! with regards, how come?
